I am excited to share this recipe with you as part of The Longest Day fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association.  Please consider making a donation to help support research to find a cure!

Recipe donated by: Cindy Zomar

In memory of: Margaret Falcsik

CAKE:

  • 2 sticks butter or margarine (“oleo”)
  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • Milk
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • ¼ tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 6 egg yolks

FILLING:

  • ½ c sugar
  • ½ pineapple can of water
  • 7 Tbsp cornstarch
  • TOPPING:
  • 6 egg whites
  • 12 tbsp sugar
  • Chopped nuts

Heat oven to 350.

Combine filling ingredients in saucepan over medium heat.  Cook until combined and thickened.  Allow to cool.
