In memory of their mother, Joanne Gray
- 2 1/4 cups sifted flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 Tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 1/3 cup chopped cherries
- 2 1/2 cups crushed corn flakes
Sift together: flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Combine shortening and sugar and blend in eggs. Add milk and vanilla.
Blend dry ingredients into sugar-shortening mixture. Add nuts, dates and cherries.
Shape into balls and roll each ball in crushed corn flakes.
Place on greased baking sheet and bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes.
