English Scones

My sweet friend Julie shared this recipe for traditional English Scones in honor of her mother’s British heritage. She even threw a fancy tea party to celebrate – with a special table for the littles!

I am excited to share this recipe with you as part of The Longest Day fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association. Please consider making a donation to help support research to find a cure!

Recipe donated by: Julie Vasquez

In honor of: Jean Burch

Ingredients:

  • 1 2/3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla (optional)
  • 1 egg

Directions:

In two separate bowls, mix the dry ingredients in one bowl and the wet ingredients in another bowl. Add the butter to the dry ingredients and roughly mix. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix so it is a sticky consistency. Put the scone mixture on a floured board and roll or pat out to a 3/4-inch thickness. Use a biscuit cutter and put the scones at least 2″ apart on baking pan (use parchment paper for easier clean up). Bake in a 400 degree oven for 12 – 15 minutes.
